Happy December!
Today, I am kicking off the new month in a big way! I am celebrating a new milestone in my career, and I would like to share the news with you!
Following my certification as a Dyslexia Specialist, I began working toward an additional certification that I felt would further my qualifications and credentials in the work I do. Earlier this week, I completed and passed the KPEERI Exam through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI). This was the final step in the process, and today I am so excited to share my new designation as a....
Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI)
What does this mean???
According to CERI, "Typically, the Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist provides targeted or intensive reading intervention services that reflect the principles and practices of Structured Literacy to individual and small groups of students. Students typically have a primary need for decoding strand instruction (phonological awareness, phonics (including decoding and encoding), and fluency)."
This is precisely the work I love to do.
This certification process has ensured extended mastery in all areas of this work, so I can be certain I am providing the high-quality instruction my students need in order to help them succeed.
If you are curious, you can learn more about this certification process here.
You can now find me listed as a Structured Literacy Professional through the CERI Provider Directory. I am one of eleven providers in the state of Mississippi. I am honored to be listed among others who are committed to improving the quality of reading instruction throughout our state.
Until next time, friends.
Leslie Tally, C-SLDI
